GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the WG-8852-12 level, you must have at least 18 months of experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. ***Qualified to Inspect others work on UH-60 Black hawk Helicopters
As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (WG-12) - Title 32, WG-8852-12, you will act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness or one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness. Additionally, you will be responsible for clearing Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Performs in-process and final inspection of others' work on assigned aircraft and components and certifies by signature adherence to work procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications. ***Indefinite positions are not permanent and have no guarantee to continued employment. If the position becomes permanent, employee may be converted to a permanent appointment without further competition at management's discretion.
