This position is an assistant to the Senior Civilian Supervisor of the Electro Group within the Industrial Department at the Coast Guard YARD. This position is responsible for planning, policy continuity, technical coordination, training, and organization and implementation of resources required for completing the shops and YARD objectives in the absence of the Electro Group General Foreman. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Assigning and explaining work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors; setting deadlines and establishing the sequence of work operations to be followed. Maintaining a balanced workload, by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources to achieve the most effective work operations. Reviewing and analyzing work accomplishments, cost and utilization of subordinates to evaluate work progress, control costs, and anticipate and avoid possible problems by recommending corrective action and/or disciplinary action. Participating with other management officials and/or engineering personnel to develop qualitative and/or quantitative work standards. Evaluating work operations and reviews completed work and inspection reports to assure that standard are met, and coordinates work operations with the supervisors of other organizations and functions. Participating in the planning and establishment of long-range work requirements and schedules.
