About the position: This position will be assigned to Information Tickets and Travel and is not guaranteed a set number of hours but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week. As a federal employee you will have access to all Hurlburt Field FSS facilities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience with professional travel agent computer based travel reservations and ticketing software. Simple clerical experience and ability to type and use the computer is required. Requires practical knowledge of computer programs to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Must have cash handling experience. Turbo Sabre or Native Sabre, Miscellaneous Charge Orders (MCOs) and voucher experience is highly desirable. Simple bookkeeping/accounting is highly desired. Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) certified or pursuing such is highly desirable. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to read, write and speak English. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Responsible for assisting the Leisure Travel Consultant in establishing and administering commercial reservation and ticketing services with a diverse leisure travel community that include military, active and retired, civilian contractors and DoD employees from all branches of service, as well as their family members. Provides clear, accurate guidance and coordination of leisure travel information and referral services for both group and individual customers. Assists customers in planning, researching, and developing both domestic and international itineraries for the sale of commercial air and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, cruises, tours and vacation packages via travel agent Global Distribution System (GDS). Notifies participants of any schedule changes. Uses computer system and software for electronic ticketing and fund management. Ensures that fees are collected, receipts are issued and maintained, and revenue is accurate and appropriately processed. May assist in processing vendor payment and/or accomplishing end of month reports. Assists in promoting marketing strategies and advertising IT&T programs and activities, assist in maintaining social media sites. Inspects tour buses, ensuring they are clean and ready for scheduled tours. Performs as tour host as scheduled, operates a 14-passenger van or smaller for local tours/excursions. Performs other duties as assigned
