Job Description:

This position is part of the Standing Rock Education Line Office, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Business Technician you will be responsible for serving as a Business Technician in a BIE School on or near the Reservation. The Business Technician position is the major support position for the BIE School.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Education AND Experience Requirements for the Business Technician 0303-02: Sixty (60) semesters hours in a related field AND one (1) year of related experience OR Associate's Degree in a related field AND one (1) year of related experience OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) Diploma AND three (3) years of related experience. Basic Education AND Experience Requirements for the Business Technician 0303-03: Sixty (60) semesters hours in a related field AND two (2) year of related experience OR Associate's Degree in a related field AND two (2) year of related experience OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) Diploma AND five (5) years of related experience. Related technical areas are: Business Accounting Finance Human Resources Related experience could include bookkeeper, budget clerk, financial clerk, purchasing clerk, human resources clerk, or other similar clerical and administrative support functions. As a Business Technician CE-0303-2/3, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Responsible for local job opportunity announcements and being liaison with Human Resources Office for all personnel actions and payroll transactions. Serving as timekeeper for assigned personnel and inputs time and attendance records into an automated system. Assists in receiving and performing audits, and/or quality assurance on completed personnel and position actions. Assist in the execution of approved budgets, apportionments, and operating programs by maintaining day to day obligation and expenditure ledgers for school accounts. Prepares and/or receives a variety of obligation/action documents including requisitions, purchase orders, travel authorizations, vouchers, etc. for supervisor's approval. Prepares and maintains accounts payable records, reports, files and financial statements as required. Preparing and processing training requests, tracking completed training, and maintaining accurate training records. Serving as point of contact for all pay and personnel management activities which are complicated by a variety of work schedules, specialized occupations, the full range of premium pay issues, shift work, and complex travel issues. Prepares and maintains accounts payable records, reports, files, and financial statements, as required. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and bureau regulations regarding financial matters. May assists in the administration of short- and long-term planning and coordinating of personnel, budget activities, fund management, automated data processing, travel, public information and other varied activities related to daily management. Provides technical advisory assistance to school staff and supervisors. Review correspondence prior to routing to other offices. Receive phone calls in order to refer to the appropriate staff. Greet customers before directing them to appropriate offices.
