Job Description:

You will serve as a ASSISTANT PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. ***TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT without further competition***
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience managing and planning the production and testing for major work packages for ships. * Experience with work that requires extensive knowledge and experience in shipyard work operations, trades and shop practices. * Experience in the mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of nuclear planning and execution that enable the incumbent to serve as an authority on availability planning process, issues and concerns; expert functional knowledge of NAVSEA ship report project management concepts and techniques. * Extensive experience with naval shipyard industrial operations and processes, management techniques and concepts, and equipment, facilities and services. * Experience with planning, coordinating, evaluating and directing shipyard wide nuclear / non-nuclear work projects. You will assist the Project Superintendent in the development of overall project strategy, manning, plans, budget and schedules.
You will conduct long-range planning, coordination and provide oversight for all zones.
You will coordinate efforts between Production, Inspection, RADCON, and Supply for efficient project execution.
You will review and interpret a variety of reports on the status of the availability including nuclear schedules, test plan-of-the-day, weapons testing schedules, workload forecast reports, and ship manning charts.
You will assess the progress of the availability, identify the problems causing work delays or stoppages, and initiate corrective action.
