The incumbent of this position will serve as a Custodial Worker and will report to the department supervisor of the specified location. LOCATIONS: This announcement covers multiple locations in support of Indian Health Service operations.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): To qualify for this position you must meet the following screen-out element: Ability to do the work without more than normal supervision. This screen-out element is a critical self-assessment of the applicant's experience and is essential for satisfactory job performance. You may meet this requirement if you have experience and/or training to perform at the following wage grade level: WG-2: Follow oral or written instructions and/or work orders; and performing janitorial/custodial work, including mopping, waxing, and polishing floors; cleaning walls, ceilings, and room partitions; emptying trash receptacles; performing cleanup of spills, debris, and litter from common areas; and removing soiled and/or contaminated items following strict procedures to prevent cross contamination. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
NOTE: Competition for Housekeeping Aid is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veteran's Preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. FOR APPLICANTS APPLYING UNDER THE PROVISION OF THE EXCEPTED SERVICE EXAMINING PLAN, CONSIDERATION FOR THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO APPLICANTS ENTITLED TO VETERANS PREFERENCE. Sanitize and deodorize office, corridors, examination rooms, treatment rooms, the dental department, pharmacy, wellness center, government quarters, and other assigned locations the supervisor directs the incumbent. Keep all restrooms in sanitary conditions including removal of dust, dirt, scrubbing stains, stripping and waxing the bathroom floors. Responsible for refilling and stocking paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap dispensers. Collect and throw away trash, restock track bins on a daily basis. Handle medical waste and other infectious material in accordance with the hospital/clinic/office safety and infection control policies. Terminal cleaning; sanitation and disinfection of a treatment room with patients that have highly infectious diseases.
