About the Position: This position is located in Beaufort, South Carolina and is a part of the Defense Health Agency. Incumbent will perform a full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area (building, hospital ward, etc.). Hours of work will be from 3:30 P.M. - 12:00 A.M. (midnight) M-F. This position is restricted to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference; if there are no Veteran's preference eligible applicants available, non- preference applicants may be considered.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common custodial duties such as sweeping and mopping floors to remove stains and debris. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Grade 2 Custodial Workers must be able to move and control heavy equipment, carry, and set up ladders. Frequently they must lift and move objects weighing 40 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift and move objects weighing over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Custodial Workers at Grade 2 usually work indoors in areas with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. They are exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Work outdoors is required when taking out trash.
Perform a full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area of the hospital in accordance with general instruction.
Utilize various methods and equipment to clean and maintain vinyl, wood, carpet, marble and various kinds of floors, walls and ceiling surfaces.
Vacuum and clean rugs, using heavy (industrial type) carpet cleaning machines.
Adjust and cleans machines by changing brushes, rollers, buffers and other attachments in accordance with maintenance instructions.
Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
Cleans patient rooms and waiting areas.
