About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Community Center on Ellsworth AFB. This position is considered regular full time. You are guaranteed 35 hours, however, could work up to 40 hours. As a regular employee you are eligible to earn leave and other NAF Benefits.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Knowledge of business operations policies, procedures, methods, and publicity techniques within one or more of the following areas: military recreation; morale, welfare, and recreation business operations; and/or community wide event planning to evaluate strengths or weaknesses and develop/revise programs to meet goals and promote patronage. Skill in written and oral communication techniques to explain, justify, and present ideas and findings on a variety of issues. Ability to make decisions and work effectively under the pressure of timelines and rigid deadlines. Knowledge of accounting and budgeting procedures in order to prepare, monitor variances, and revise budgets. Must possess skill in dealing with customer and the public. Experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Bachelor's degree in recreational leadership, parks and recreation management, leisure related field is highly desirable. Valid vehicle operator's license is required.
Assists in program operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities for the Community Commons (Club and Community Center). Special emphasis is on programs for families and family members and special groups such as retirees, singles, and private organizations. Utilizes various AFSVC funds to include R4R, Outside the Box, Entertainment Enhancement funds, etc. Provides estimated cost data and itinerary for planned activities and assists with quarterly budgets. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: Carries out recurring group activities such as classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games and events, and self-directed leisure. Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Gathers information from several different sources, including past programs and current popular programs in other communities. Evaluates the information and makes a judgment on what meets the needs of the specific clientele groups. Assists individuals with special interests to develop clubs or special interest groups. Assists in promoting marketing strategies to include social media outlets. During deployment, exercises, and other special conditions, leads leisure activities and assists with services. Sets up rooms to support meeting group needs. Collects fees and protects funds. Assists with cash handling, accounting, daily deposits, office filing. Prepares daily cash, collect reports, and safeguards all funds for controlled documents, plus assists with observed inventory and cash counts within the facility. Greets facility users and conducts facility tours. Decorates facility to reflect holiday and program themes. Reports facility repairs and maintenance requirements according to procedures. Works with other staff members, volunteer and/or individual/personal services contract personnel.
