These positions are located at the Northeast Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) in Chelmsford, MA. The Northeast CMOP processes mail out prescriptions for multiple VA Medical Centers in Eastern United States.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Work is done inside or outside the areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regular exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, may be subjected to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel-toes shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume. The major duties include but are not limited to: Logs receipt and storage of stock; Independently loads and unloads shipments from trucks, rail cars, and other material conveyances; Verifies bills of lading, identifies and reports discrepancies; Uses fork lifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, side loaders, stacker cranes and automated guided vehicles; Operates automated storage vehicles, using remote terminals to receive and transmit locator data; Handles hazardous or sensitive materials, as required; Prepares shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems; Updates inventory records and prepares reports on inventory status; Organizes, arranges, assembles and delivers stock in storage areas; Uses automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners and computer keyboards to load computerized inventory data, access inventory information and fill item requisitions; Conduct cycle-counts on a regular basis using optical scanners to maintain inventory accuracy; Stacks, moves and arranges items on pallets considering height, weight and special handling requirements; and Performs other related duties as assigned.
