Job Description:

The purpose of the Health Promotion Coordinator (HPC) position is to administer, manage and coordinate program planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-based health promotion services. This position is located in the Kayenta Service Unit, Health Promotion/Disease Prevention Branch under the Division of Public Health Services in Kayenta, Arizona.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: administering, managing and coordinating the Health Promotion Program. This would include such things as planning, coordinating, developing, implementation, and evaluating of the community based health promotion services. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
Fully participate in management, strategic planning and policy decision; shares accordingly in implementing plans. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates health promotion disease prevention plans and programs in the service areas. Manages the department finances, prepares the annual departmental spending plan, maintains commitment registries and actively pursues alternative funding sources. Assures that personnel requirements such as employee orientation, performance appraisal, competency assessment, mandatory training requirements and developmental plans for training are met. Develops and implements HP/DP Branch Quality Management Plan per Service Unit policy. Provides oversight and direction for on-going, systematic evaluation of service unit community-based health promotion services using established methods and national recognized standards. Serves as a liaison on health promotion-related issues to other agencies and programs providing services in Kayenta Service Unit including country, state and other federal programs and agencies.
