You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY & HEALTH DIVISION of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing and evaluating a shipyard or industrial safety and occupational health program to identify and resolve hazardous environmental operating conditions for ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. You will analyze and resolve high-risk hazards present at the industrial complex.
You will identify and correct industrial hazards throughout painting, metal, woodworking, electrical and electronic shops, major warehousing and supply operations, acid-caustic storage areas, industrial laboratory facilities, piers and dry docks.
You will apply hazard analysis methods and techniques to resolve operational safety and health problems.
You will initiate procedures implementing technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for a wide variety of operations and activities.
You will, as a technical expert on Nuclear Program issues, represent management at meetings, conferences, critiques, and advise members on Environmental Safety and Health Department actions.
You will inspect work environments to ensure safety and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
You will apply methods, techniques, and abatements to control or eliminate unsafe practices or conditions.
You will advise investigation boards convened to ascertain causal factors precipitating fatalities, serious injuries, or substantial property damage.
You will recommend specific investigative techniques and the application of appropriate safety standards and sound practices.
