This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families. Qualified candidates will possess the following: working knowledge of performing automotive repairs, providing instruction to patrons in automotive maintenance and repair, use and operate shop tools and equipment to perform a variety of tasks, AND the ability to read, understand, and apply instructions and other materials (job aids, pamphlets etc.), AND experience leading or supervising a work team/crew. Serves as the first line supervisor for the Auto Craft Shop directing the work of other Automotive Workers, who are responsible for performing automotive repairs as well as instruction to auto hobby shop patrons.
Assists and instructs auto craft hobby patrons in automotive maintenance and repair; demonstrating the use of shop tools and equipment required for the job tasks and emphasizing safety practices.
Assists with the ordering of equipment and supplies necessary to the Auto Hobby/Care Operation.
Completes employee performance appraisals. Informs higher level supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload or other circumstances to obtain replacements or additional staff.
Ensures monthly inventories of controlled property are performed and reports discrepancies to supervisor as they occur.
