Job Description:
This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families. Qualified candidates will possess the following: knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities, AND a basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding of supplies and equipment, AND ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English), AND work experience or education directly related to the duties of a Supervisory Recreation Specialist NF-0188-03. HIGHLY PREFERRED are those candidates that possess both the minimum qualifications above and: Two (2) years' experience working in an Automotive Shop or repairing vehicles. Supervises a staff of 3-12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis.
Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
Must be able to support the activity by applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities.
Works in executing recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage.
Recommends items of supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
