Job Description:

Who may apply: Current permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants, and current DFAS VRA employees.
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-12 Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing and researching Congressional or legislative reports, authorization/appropriations bills, constituent or policy issues; ensuring compliance with privacy requirements and guidance for responding to congressional inquiries or legislative relations tasks associated with an organization's program and activities; and assisting with research or reports on congressional or legislative actions to support recommendation for corrective action or responses. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Functions as a liaison with subject matter experts from the areas of Operations (retired/annuitant pay, debt/claims, travel, civilian, military and transportation pay) to be knowledgeable of and analyze issues identified in congressional inquiries.
Stays abreast of changing legislation, policies, and procedures with related impact to operations to identify and recommend solutions to potential problems that may impact congressional inquiries.
Monitors and advises on congressional items of interest; researches and analyzes congressional activities and legislative changes that impact DFAS and its serviced organizations.
Promptly elevates Congressional inquiries and requests for review of legislative proposals; facilitates development of timely responses.
Extracts, summarizes and disseminates results of congressional activities in daily, weekly and annual reports for use by leaders and staff throughout DFAS.
