You will serve as a Physical Scientist or Oceanographer in the Ocean Projects Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience investigating and extracting environmental data from external sources for data analysis and cross-check of data for pre-planning verification. Experience enhancing existing data set or data analysis for optimal product development. Experience storing new improved data of increased resolution into Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabases. Experience utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to perform data processing while developing/adhering to standardized processes for data ingesting into geospatial data sets from other agencies and implements GIS imagery fundamentals; of geography, geodatabases and populates, metadata. You will participate in Remote Environmental Monitoring Unit S Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (REMUS AUV) surveys.
You will prepare accurate, tailored products, fill on demand immediate data requests.
You will possess an understanding of data processing, interpretation and integration of high-resolution data to include bathymetric data, side scan sonar imagery and physical oceanography data.
You will coordinate and implement new and improved methods of more efficient data processing.
You will present results in both oral and written form.
