Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is a large and complex 1A facility that serves over 58,000 Veterans. Hines VA is a multi-site medical system that includes a major medical facility in Hines, Illinois and six Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The Workplace Violence Prevention (WVPP) Program Manager is responsible for addressing and managing reports of disruptive behaviors across the main facility and the six CBOCs.

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Physical Requirements: This work is performed in an office setting although some slight physical effort may be required to conduct trainings, give presentations or to observe staff and trainees in their work environment. This includes inpatient and clinical areas. This position will utilize a desk and computer and may need to navigate throughout the facility clinical areas.
This is a Detail (Reassignment) Not to Exceed 1 year, in 120-day increments and requires supervisory approval. Must have your supervisor's approval, please submit documentation of approval (email or memo). Must provide a copy of most recent performance appraisal. This role involves conducting and delegating: behavioral threat assessments to inform recommendations for individualized risk management strategies; consulting with VA Providers, clinical staff and DBC and ETAT members; informing and providing risk relevant clinical interventions in cases of disruptive or violent behavior history; providing and overseeing education to staff; providing timely and accurate responses to action items and recommendations made by the WVPP; and ensuring ongoing training of team members in evidence-based threat assessment and threat management practice. The incumbent maintains a close partnership with the national WVPP The incumbent seeks national guidance regarding disruptive individuals in the workplace, behavior risk and threat management recommendations, and strategies to promote a culture of safety in VHA. The WVPP PM also maintains a close working relationship with community partners in public safety and organizational safety. responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business of the multidisciplinary committee that reviews incidents of Employee-Generated Disruptive Behaviors The WVPP PM maintains primary responsibility for the development and implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) within the Workplace Violence Prevention Programs. The WVPP PM works effectively with several different services and programs to develop specific procedures designed to promote safety for Hines VA. The WVPP PM works closely with leadership to develop strategic plans for the growth and development of the program. The incumbent ensures that the WVPP PM is in full compliance with all VHA directives and other regulations. The incumbent is responsible for all Employee Threat Assessment Teams, Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior point of contact, WBRA and DBRS system liaison, Disruptive Behavior Committee quarterly reporting Responsible for maintaining proficiency in current evidence-based behavioral threat assessment and management practice.
