Job Description:
This position is a laundry machine operator who performs tasks involved in the washing and drying process of laundering linen and personal clothing. The position performs varied combinations of tasks in one or more functional areas of the laundry process such as receiving, (unloading soiled linen from trucks), soiled sorting, weighing linen, loading/unloading washers and dryers, and moving linen to various areas of the Laundry for finishing. THIS IS A PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 120 Days

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent must stand and/or walk continuously on hard surfaced floors. Some stooping, bending and reaching is also required when performing duties. Lifting up to 50 pounds is required and gets assistance to lift weights in excess of 50 pounds. Must be physically capable to push and pull carts full of linen. WORK CONDITIONS: Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linen. Incumbent may be subjected to minor cuts and bruises from carts and machinery. Incumbent may be exposed to heat, humidity, cold drafts, lint, vibration and high noise levels
Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for the overall machine production in the Textile Care Processing facility (TCPF), ensuring quality and quantity of work performed meets established standards. Shifts available staff through work stations to meet the varying daily workload demands in production. Work assignments consist of soiled sorting, washing, drying, conditioning, rough dry folding, flatwork processing, uniform processing, patient personal processing, linen distribution, and the operation of all laundry machinery and equipment associated with the assigned tasks. Makes routine decisions, demonstrates proper techniques and safe practices to TCPF staff, and answers staffs' questions regarding policies, procedures and machinery/equipment operation. Monitors work while in progress to ensure production needs are met and proper procedures, rules and regulations are being followed. Confers with the TCPF Supervisor/Manager daily.to determine priorities and reports any TCPF discrepancies, malfunctions, shutdowns and concerns to the TCPF Supervisor/Manager. Incumbent assumes control of the TCPF in the absence of the Worklead/Supervisor/Manager. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
