OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, and Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Registration Requirement: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND Education requirement: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. AND Specialized experience for the GS-13 is one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position which includes: - Providing clinical healthcare services requiring interpretation of various medical regulation and directives; AND - Conducting healthcare audits, inspections, or program evaluations. AND - Identifying quality care issues and making recommendations in accordance with medical and nursing guidelines and regulations. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Duty locations are limited to the following for this position: Aurora, CO; Dallas, TX; Kansas City, MO; San Diego, CA; Trenton, NJ; Washington, DC As a Nurse Consultant, you will: - Serve as a Nurse Consultant with responsibilities related to the management, evaluation, and oversight of clinical and operational activities that are part of broad national VHA medical center programs supported by VA Office of the Medical Inspector. - Assist the project leader in a broad range of Quality Management (QM) and health care program inspections and evaluations. - Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct extensive pre-inspection clinical research, and provide appropriate guidance to non-clinical team members where such is needed. - Identify existing information sources from which to obtain a sufficient data base to facilitate the team's understanding of the clinical process or outcome to be inspected or evaluated and to identify possible clinical issues that require further development.
