Job Description:
This position is being filled under a stream-lined hiring authority, Title 21 of the United States Code (21 US Code 379d-3a) as amended by the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016, section 3072 and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, Section 3624. The candidate selected for this position will serve under a career or career-conditional appointment and be paid under the provisions of this authority. This position is being recruited based on the Title 21 Pay Table 2, Band F.
In order to qualify for the Division Director position which falls under the 0405 occupational Series, you must meet the following requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 06/12/2025: Basic Qualification Requirements: A bachelor's degree or higher in toxicology, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, environmental sciences, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related sciences. The degree must be from an accredited program or institution. OR American Board of Toxicology certification. OR Have comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. AND IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED ABOVE, APPLICANTS MUST ALSO MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS. 1. Have a bachelor's degree and also have 7 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. 2.Have a master's degree and also have 6 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. 3.Have a Doctorate and/or J.D. degree and also have 4 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. 4.Have a MD, DO, DDS, DPM, or DVM degree and also have 4 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. 5. Have an American Board of Toxicology certification and also have 11 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis. 6. Have 11 years of comparable experience administering, advising on, supervising, or performing research, analytical, advisory, or other professional and scientific work in the discipline of pharmacology and other uses of drugs as well as modern pharmacological techniques such as in vitro cell based assays and leveraging mathematical models for quantitative analysis NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications.
Serve as the Division Director of a Pharmacology/Toxicology Division and provides professional leadership and scientific direction to subordinate supervisors and division staff. Represent FDA on committees or at meetings of scientific and professional groups with both national and international groups and organizations outside the government and with industry. Direct the review and evaluation of New Drug applications (NDAs) and Biologics License Applications (BLAs), amendments and supplements to determine if drugs are safe and effective. Provide staff leadership and direction and advises the Office and Center directors in all matters related to the planning development, formulation, implementation, execution, administration and coordination of activities. Identify gaps in nonclinical assessments and leads Divisional research projects to address the problems.
