Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in physical education, OR all of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level: 1. Experience managing or assisting in the delivery of a sports or physical education program which included both individual and team sports 2. Demonstrated knowledge of the skills and techniques needed for various sports. 3. Experience coaching or working with coaches to apply techniques and required skills/fundamentals for various sports. Recommended highly-qualifying: In addition to meeting one of the requirements above, highly qualified candidates will possess experience working in a sports program specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.).
1. Provide support and assistance to CYS Youth Sports and Fitness Director in the area of fitness, volunteer coaches, and maintaining National Youth Sports Coaches Association training guidelines
2. Supports the operation of intramural programs for youth and provides skill-building programs for children. Assists coaches in practice procedures, operating an effective coach/parent meeting, sport-specific training, and parent relations.
3. Conducts practice and game visits as required for the purpose of providing support and assistance.
4. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Encourages participant interest, good sportsmanship, and safety.
Provides oversight and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD, Army, and local policies, guidance, and standards. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
