Job Description:
You will serve as a the Department Chief Engineer (CHENG) in the NUWC Division of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer providing guidance and direction to Technical Project Managers on specific science, technology, and engineering project issues related to systems design, in-service engineering, and life-cycle supportability requirements, constraints, organizations, and enablers. You will manage the overall planning, direction and success of major programs, systems development efforts, and research or technology initiatives which have a great significance to the activity's and agency's needs.
You will utilize program management processes to assess program health and to interface with managers at the NAVSEA and Program Executive Office (PEO) level.
You will supervise a small workforce.
You will provide guidance and direction to Technical Project Managers on specific science, technology, and engineering project issues.
You will manage and provide guidance to engineers in a matrix organization in a complex/dynamic team environment, as well as other personnel of varying disciplines and grade levels.
You will manage and supervise other supervisors as well as other personnel of varying disciplines.
You will apply knowledge of the DoD/Navy acquisition process and NAVSEA programs, processes, and policies for combat systems engineering.
You will apply knowledge of systems engineering, design, integration, and support planning, managing, and execution principles, and policies.
You will apply knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and principles for the technical infusion and life-cycle support of weapons systems.
You will apply knowledge of Undersea Warfare (USW) systems, particularly as related to systems design and in-service engineering and life-cycle supportability requirements, constraints, organizations, and enablers.
