Specialized Experience: In order to be rated as minimally qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the minimum qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. For GS-05: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to; performing entry control and vehicle/foot patrol for a large campus or institution, for example a military base or large industrial complex; monitoring alarms and closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system, and writing clear and concise security logs and security incident reports. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. THIS IS A DRUG TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION in accordance with Executive Order 12564, and under the Department's Drug Free Workplace Program. Applicant(s) tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use and to pass the test prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Performs entry control duties at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC).
Writes visitor passes and maintains visitor log and security log.
Conducts vehicle and foot patrol of NIFC, NIFC Aircraft Ramp and the Boise District Office.
Responds to emergencies and renders first aid.
Investigates and documents suspicious activity and abnormal situations.
Writes clear and concise security incident reports to document incidents.
Cordons crime scenes, protects evidence, and detains suspects awaiting arrival of local authorities.
Monitors access to restricted areas and equipment such as the aircraft ramp and parked aircraft.
Operates and monitors the Video Surveillance System, the Physical Access Control (PACS) and also monitors the Intrusion Detection System.
Operates motor vehicles in all weather conditions. A valid state driver's license is required as well as routine certification training.
Uses personal computer and various software programs for normal business operations.
Provides assistance and direction to employees and visitors as needed.
Monitors alarms and dispatches patrol to alarms.
Performs security checks after normal business hours.
