Job Description:

You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the PHASED MAINTENANCE PLANNING of COMNAVSURFPAC. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and implementing ship maintenance and modernization operations to establish effective cost controls of labor, materials, and recommend changes to the overhaul and repair of naval vessels. You will review ship alteration (SHIPALT) and Alteration Equivalent to a Repair (AER) requests for technical applicability, cost effectiveness and consistency with current policies.
You will be the point of contact for assigned ships class(es), responsible for Class Configuration Control and Life Cycle Management.
You will ensure database for assigned ship class(es) has current and accurate alteration programming, planning, and completion data that is available to facilitate future year programming.
You will provide the Port Engineer/Maintenance Manager a listing of authorized and approved modernization items scheduled for each individual availability.
You will coordinate and provide initial milestones for advance planning of all scheduled availabilities for individual class ships.
You will monitor the readiness and material condition of assigned ship class(es).
You will serve as the principal assistant to the Force Type Desk Officer for assigned ship class, providing continuity in the oversight of maintenance/modernization of the class.
