Job Description:
You will serve as a MUSEUM CURATOR in theNATIONAL MUSEUM.
GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional MUSEUM CURATOR. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Researching and creating museum exhibits; Demonstrating experience in the planning process for new museums, including interpretive programs, architecture and exhibit design; Presenting historic topics to diverse audiences GS-09: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional MUSEUM CURATOR. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Working with other museum staff members to suggest art and photographic imagery for exhibits; Assisting in the research and writing of publications/exhibits Advising, meeting, and corresponding with officials and other museums about historical imagery and the location of the imagery in the respective repositories. You will develop permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits for the National Museum of the US Navy.
You will assist the Naval History and Heritage Command website and social media programs.
You will research all resources at the Naval History and Heritage Command for historically and factually correct imagery and artifacts.
You will communicate with Naval History program wide museum staff, official DOD sources, and non-Navy about exhibits produced.
