This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Jackson, Mississippi. The Primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. This position performs duties such as: The position is delegated responsibility for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis. Approves leave requests for subordinates, counsels' employees, and recommends disciplinary action to a higher-level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants. Routinely inspects assigned areas to ensure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, sanitation levels are maintained, equipment is properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives in an expedient and timely manner. Responsible for the cleaning of all patient areas, corridor space. Schedules regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives. Plans daily and weekly assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility, taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities. Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the usage of supplies to affect cost control within the unit. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, 11:00pm - 7:30am, including weekends; subject to change based on Facility needs Position Description Title/PD#: Environmental Services Technician Supervisor/PD99911S Physical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
