Job Description:

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MUSEUM CURATOR in the NAVY MUSEUMS DIVISION of NATIONAL MUSEUM.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Director-level Museum experience, including staff management, financial oversight, and museum programming. 2) Creating and presenting briefing materials to leadership; 3) Managing the planning process for new museums, including interpretive programs, architecture and exhibit design, and project coordination; 4) Presenting historic topics to diverse audiences. You will oversee all aspects of coordinating the design, building, staffing and equipping of the new National Museum of the U.S. Navy and museums within the NHHC Museums Division.
You will exercise the full range of supervisory personnel management responsibilities and authority in directing an office and staff including performance evaluations and providing advice, counsel, and guidance.
You will conduct and oversee primary historical research in American military history, including an understanding of the role of the U.S. Navy within the context of the Department of Defense and throughout the Nation’s history.
You will oversee the development, creation, and execution of educational programming geared towards school-age children, the uniformed and civilian Navy/DOD workforce, veterans, and the general public.
