This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Nationally Registered or Virginia Certified Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate as part of the Medic Treatment Facility ambulance service while performing invasive advanced life support procedures. This position is located in Fort Eustis, Virgina.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Operating a vehicle to transport patients, assessing patient's condition to determine appropriate care, and performing both basic and advanced life support to deliver pre-hospital emergency medical treatment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Respond to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, and potential environmental risks.
Serve as a Nationally Registered or Virginia Certified Paramedic or Virginia EMT-Intermediate and operate as part of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) ambulance service while performing invasive advanced life support procedures.
Perform basic and advanced life support emergency medical treatment to provide the most extensive prehospital care to significantly increase patient survivability and reduce the possibility of long-term complications from serious illness or injury.
Perform routine operator safety checks, thorough emergency vehicle maintenance inspections of the vehicles, and inventory all supplies and equipment.
Coordinate with dispatch for additional ambulance response, military police, fire department personnel, or other mutual aid as needed.
