Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must have one year specialized experience at the GS-12 or equivalent level. Specialized experience includes configuring and troubleshooting agency Wide Area Network (WAN), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), VPN, switches, firewalls, wireless, and IDS/IPS devices and their transmission in voice, data, and/or video. Provides technical expertise for networking capabilities to include the analysis, testing and maintenance support for network and information systems, wireless, VPN, firewall, Intrusion Defense System (IDS), and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).
Configures devices and network management applications. Reviews, monitors, and analyzes network performance, workload, and capacity. Performs a variety of tasks to identify network requirements, costs and schedules.
Ensures agency compliance of network systems in accordance with DoD regulations and applicable standards, policy and procedures. Develops, monitors, procures, and identifies upgrades to network software and hardware systems.
Resolves incidents, develops corrective actions to complex network issues and provides recommendations on methods to enhance customer satisfaction and the network architecture.
Serves as network administrator and lead to assist supervisor in the selection of work group team members and leaders to address network system needs and related issues.
