Job Description:
The Secret Service is seeking retirees of the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) to support our integrated mission and impart knowledge and experience to the current workforce. Joining the Secret Service, Office of Field Operations will allow you to support or conduct difficult and complex non-criminal national security and suitability investigations, focusing on performing background investigations.
To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS -13 level (starting salary $90,025.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- 12 level performing duties such as: Conducts polygraph examinations to maintain the accuracy of information for both criminal and personnel security. Coordinates responses to technical briefings given to senior executives and investigative findings conducted in interagency forums. Takes care of the entire chain of investigative matters that stem from original assignments, and a web of multi-jurisdictional issues. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. The selectee will serve as a Investigator (Polygraph Forensics) (Reemployed Annuitants (RA) and ICTAP) in the, Office of Field Operations. Typical work assignments include: Scheduling, plans and independently conducts criminal and personnel security polygraph examinations; involving/ analyzing case material and selecting appropriate methodologies and techniques based on a thorough review and evaluation of available documentation Coordinating or initiating, planning, and managing complex investigative assignments involving allegations of criminal activities, integrity violations, misconduct, or security risk behavior; determining applicable standards and developing investigation plans to confirm or deny the truth of allegations and any operational inefficiencies that have been identified. Coordinating with multiple investigative and prosecutorial entities across federal, state, and international jurisdictions to resolve complex sensitive matters.
