This vacancy is for a WG - 4749-10,Maintenance Mechanic located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG ACADEMY PUBLIC WORKS SECTION in NEW LONDON, Connecticut.

You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-10 and be responsible for performing preventive maintenance work during rotating shifts. Responding to fire alarms, security alarms, and emergencies, such as electrical failures, water leaks, floods, equipment failure, etc. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Performing all tasks associated with the installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting (tracing and locating defects), loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, etc. Performing all tasks associated with installing, modifying, repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and underground water distribution mains and systems. Making repairs to HVAC system in residential and commercial units, small and domestic natural gas and oil-fired heating units and systems. Performing minor repairs to the interior and exterior of building and structures. Operating snow equipment (plows and snow blowers).
