Job Description:
This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at the Mathis Fitness Center on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. This position is considered Regular Part-Time (RPT). You are guaranteed 20 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours/week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. As a RPT employee, you are eligible to earn annual/sick leave and sign up for benefits, to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and NAF Retirement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must be able to obtain a current Air Force Fitness Specialist Certification and Physical Training Leader Certification within 180 days of assignment. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed if group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of sports and fitness. Must have the ability to instruct staff and customers on proper use and maintenance of recreational facilities and equipment. Must have at least one year experience working in a fitness center. Must have experience in planning, preparing, and coordinating special events and/or incentive programs. Experience in developing budgets is desirable. Must possess a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Hearts Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and first aid certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must be able to read, write and speak English, and communicate effectively with patrons. Must be able to life objects weighing up to 50 pounds successfully. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 background investigation. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.
Plans, prepares, coordinates and executes all special events and incentive programs to service the base population. Cross markets with other organizations on base to produce quality events. Accomplishes all paperwork dealing with special events and incentive programs to include; event synopsis, supply lists, event briefs, after action reports, in-house marketing flyers, marketing requests, staff assignments for events, prize acquisition, yearly projection of dates for special events. Constructs a quarterly budget to project what money is needed for each special event and incentive program. Perform supply and equipment inventories. Performs a wide range of management duties in support of the day to day operations of the Fitness Center. Such as supervising employees working in the center, approving leave, making schedules, writing appraisals, and handling disciplinary actions. Operate point of sale system, receives payments and issues change for services. Conduct fitness assessment test and formulate individual improvement programs and individual training plans for patron. Teach group exercise classes, i.e. step aerobics, Pilates, etc. as needed.
