Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. AND To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: For GS-9, experience in managing an entire cycle of operation of an early childhood program, including budgeting; facility management; supply management; program development; implementation; selection, training, and supervision of personnel; and curriculum oversight. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
You will serve as a Training and Curriculum Specialist and be responsible for providing and delivering a comprehensive training program to Child Development Center (CDC) employees and CDS Family Child Care (FCC) providers. You will also be assisting with the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum/program that fosters the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development of children and youth, ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Typical work assignments include: working with the CDC Director and the Family Resource Specialist (FRS) to establish training plans and schedules for employees and provide training. Ensuring that the required Coast Guard curriculum is implemented within each CDS program (i.e., supports implementation and execution of the Coast Guard standardized curriculum within the Child Development Center (CDC). Providing training to CDC staff and FCC providers so they can ensure classroom and activity area compliance with fire, safety, and sanitations rules and instructions carrying out EEO policies and communicates support of those policies to CDS employees..
