To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS), your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after- competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applying latest principles, practices, methods, and concepts in system/software design, development, testing, implementation, and risk management sufficient to maintain application integrity and availability. Assisting in the evaluation, selection, and integration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and/or Government-off-the- shelf (GOTS) solutions. Providing IT solutions by modifying existing and/or building new software systems, working with customer functional proponents in their formulation of requirements that results in a new system design or major modifications to Automated Information Systems (AIS). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Serves as a senior member or coordinator of a project/program support team responsible for business systems requirements assessment, evaluation, analysis, planning, design, development, documentation, validation, implementation, etc.
Also serves with maintenance of an assigned area/subsystem in DLA Information Operations J62K.
Performs "level of effort" assessment/impact analysis in concert with customers, coworkers, and system users for fixes, enhancements and other changes based on high level business requirements.
Evaluates and analyzes the customer's business system requirements for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, integrity, completeness, compliance, compatibility and testability.
Assists in the evaluation, selection and integration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and/or Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) solutions.
Identifies and defines system interface requirements with other ancillary automated information systems (AIS) that support DLA's logistics business.
Oversees implementation and maintenance of system software modifications. Participates in release management, software transition, and deployment activities.
Tests and validates that all software modifications meet system specifications and that they fulfill the approved business system requirements. Coordinates as necessary to develop and execute a comprehensive test program.
Develops functional designs, operational concepts; detailed inputs/outputs, system interrelationships, and processing logic.
Conducts and participates in the research and investigation of technological developments that have the potential to improve the design, modification, testing, installation, implementation, etc. and support of new or existing applications software.
