In addition to the basic requirement below, in order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. For the GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: serves as a senior staff specialist performing engineering work in construction and maintenance programs for building, recreation, bridges, major structures, roads, etc.; design and prepare project plans and specifications, establish inspection requirements, develop hazard reduction program, provide engineering expertise & technical guidance on various topics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Provides expertise for a variety of projects and activities which include complex features in one more specialties of hydraulic, hydrologic, geotechnical, structural, highway, and/or construction management.
Performs Engineer analysis and technical planning duties to include coordinating technical planning activities, data collection, risk estimation, and instrument data analysis.
Completes and/or reviews engineering designs to include planning and conducting engineering studies, creating/modeling engineering designs, developing/drafting design criteria.
Prepares and reviews technical documentation. Makes oral presentations at coordination meetings.
Plans, schedules, coordinates, and conducts civil engineering facility examinations, reviews, and/or inspections.
Develops, monitors, and manages project plans that outline the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned projects.
Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) / Grants Officer's Technical Representative (GOTR) / Awarding Official Technical Representative.
