Job Description:

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Host & Compute Cybersecurity Governance & Risk Branch.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience conducting cyber incident response and information system security program management using IT principles, experience in log review, analysis, detection, and response to aberrant activity, familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) or Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, and/or administrator level experience in an underlying technology or experience with toolsets like Splunk and Microsoft Office 365's Security products. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist as a Cyber Incident Responder and Defense Analyst with responsibility to investigate, analyze, interpret, and respond to Cyber incidents.
Develops and implements programs to ensure that systems, network, and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.
Monitors and evaluates systems, compliance with IT security policies and requirements.
Provides advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems.
Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
