The Veterans Affairs VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is a Level 1b facility and ranks among a complex system in the VA serving the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21). To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Incumbent should have an understanding of a variety of complicated motor controls that are also used such as hermetically sealed motors and pressure controls, thermostatic motor control's, full and semi-automatic defrosting controls, relays, and other controls to protect against overload or overheating. Incumbent should have knowledge of HVAC systems with multiple compressors, elements and the understanding of how those devices work together for normal operation. The incumbent will provide and support routinely installations on industrial and commercial type air conditioning and HVAC systems including supporting components of those system. Repairs, modifies, maintains, troubleshoots, services and performs preventive maintenance of HVAC systems, air conditioning units, plants and systems related equipment. Responsible for completing work orders as assigned or an any emergency basis. Replaces items such as safety devices, thermostats, heating elements, overload switches, heater strips, magnetic coils, humidistat's, and condensers. Required to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl and work in uncomfortable positions and to pull, push, reach over the shoulder and lift supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers.
