Job Description:
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Superintendent House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division. The selectee will be responsible for assigning, directing and reviewing the work of subordinates and evaluating work performance; planning, scheduling and coordinating work operations; and solving problems related to work performed by the unit. Will also perform non-supervisory tasks in support of the mission.

Supervise workers and perform administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates along with performing non-supervisory tasks in support of the unit’s mission.
Tour of Duty: 7 am to 6 pm. This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations. The position requires a current D.C. or State driver’s license and a Certificate as a Powered Industrial Truck driver to operate a Forklift in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.178 (l) (6) within 6 months of your start date. Major Duties: Supervisory Responsibilities: Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties and evaluates performance. Manages the organizational unit's budget and workload, and develops performance requirements. Resolves complaints and grievances. Provides for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training. Ensures materials and tools are available and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Ensures that each employee has a full workload. Checks work in progress and when completed, and checks for compliance with instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines. Demonstrates proper work methods and answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Ensures tools are properly used. Utilizes a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take correction action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Materials Handling: Orders and purchases equipment and furniture for special functions set-ups. Stores, delivers and sets up equipment and furniture in rooms used for special functions for meetings. Responsible for maintenance, storage and repair of furniture and equipment. Purchases necessary inside equipment, such as chairs, tables, easels, podiums, coat racks, etc. and equipment for outside maintenance, such as power washers, bobcats, leaf blowers, etc. Receives and unloads designated conveyances, palletizes and stacks material. Examines packaging material for conformity with security requisitions which includes proper markings, method of packing and required shipping protections. Checks materials received against invoice report or receipt document, comparing short titles, stock numbers, register numbers and quantity. Loads, transports, unloads and assembles tools, parts and materials. Operates industrial vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and other cleaning tools and equipment to vacuum rugs, clean floors, base-boards and performs other routine cleaning tasks. Fork Lift Operating: Operates hand truck, pallet jacks, dollies and other material handling equipment to deliver stock to storage areas or job sites. Operates a fork lift truck with a load capacity of less than 10,000 pounds or higher and a height capacity of 168 inches or more. Re-positions large trucks at the loading dock bays to facilitate workflow or specialized functions. Performs other related duties as assigned.
