Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Apparel, Footwear & Textiles Center of Excellence and Expertise San Francisco Field Office - AFT CEE. The selection will be made and oversight of this position will be maintained by the Field Office, but the physical location of this position will remain in Seattle, WA.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Ability to assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Ability to evaluate work performance of subordinates. Provides expert technical advice to higher-level CBP officials on the entry process. Knowledge of the admissibility, control, entry and export of merchandise and revenue collection, post-release processes, and overall management and marketing of various automated systems. Develops and implements plans to improve the delivery of services, individually and with other Entry Supervisors, and through process improvement teams. This position starts at a salary of $118,446.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,982.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $153,982 (GS-13 Step 10). In this Supervisory Customs Entry Officer (2nd Line Supervisor), you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals responsible for a wide range of admissibility and control requirements. Typical work assignments include: Monitoring and evaluating employees' work products; establishing or recommending performance standards and evaluations. Monitoring and evaluating the delivery of services to customers and the methods and techniques used to provide them. Developing and implementing plans to improve the delivery of services, individually and with other Entry Supervisors, and through process improvement teams. Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees Providing expert technical advice to higher-level CBP officials on the entry process.
