Job Description:
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This Position may be filled as temporary appointment not to exceed 1-2 years, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years with provisions to be made permanent.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifications required for Medical Technician, GS-0645-06: Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing laboratory tests and/or examinations such as chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking; Assisting with physical examinations such as optical or audiometric tests, EKG, and urine collection/processing; and Performing phlebotomy and/or operating medical equipment such as audiometers, stereoscopic vision testers, and centrifuges. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Clinical Medical Assisting, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Administration, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Interview applicants for medical conditions that could affect test results.
Demonstrate procedures to minimize confusion and/or false failures.
Determine types of medical examinations required and/or any special testing due to age or Service requirements.
Screen applicants' records for conducting physical examinations.
Perform administrative office duties such as filing of paperwork and/or annotating logs.
Coordinate necessary evaluations and/or applicant's transportation for consultations.
