Job Description:

This position is located in the Standing Rock Agency, Branch of Fire Management, and provides a wide range of fire dispatch, logistical and administrative support duties; Duty Station in Fort Yates, North Dakota; and will be filled from Standard PD No. FDI210B/A This announcement will be used to fill vacancies utilizing the Direct-Hire Authority (5CFR 337.201). Category rating, veteran's preference, and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do NOT apply for this vacancy.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions) GS-7: 1 year of specialized work experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Examples of specialized experience include: providing public safety dispatching (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical, search and rescue, and fire, etc.) operations in the communications center; prioritizing and/or responding to all 911 calls; utilizing emergency reporting systems to coordinate emergency response and; providing training on law enforcement and/or public safety dispatching systems. GS-6: 1 year of specialized work experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Examples of specialized experience include: public safety dispatching (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical, search and rescue, and fire, etc.) operations in the communications center; instructing callers for medical emergencies using an approved Emergency Medical Data card-set; operating with law enforcement computerized databases such as the law enforcement telecommunications system (LETS), justice information system (JIS), national crime information center (NCIC) and; preparing written records to capture all significant events for later analysis. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur within 90 days from the closing date.
Coordinates with other dispatch organizations on mobilization, reassignment, and demobilization of resources.
Operates and/or directs the operation of various dispatch telecommunications systems.
Performs and directs others in completing and processing resource order requests for personnel, equipment, supplies, and/or aircraft for all types of incidents.
Inputs data into a number of fire-related computer applications (e.g., incident qualification records, fire reporting systems, and automated dispatch systems).
Consolidates and inputs fire weather data into weather application software and reviews for completeness.
Responds to resource requests from other dispatch offices.
