Job Description:
You will serve as a Manager in the Major Caliber Gun Branch (W84), Guns Division (W8), Warfighter Defense & Systems Integration Department (W) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. The ND-05 encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer leading technical teams in performing acquisition and in-service engineering work to direct program management efforts for the design, development, acquisition and life cycle support of major caliber gun weapon systems. You will direct the program management efforts for the design, development, acquisition and life cycle support of Naval major caliber gun weapon systems on destroyers/cruisers to meet the sponsor goals and objectives.
You will manage the acquisition and in-service engineering efforts for the US Navy, subordinate team leads, administrative, technical and professional engineering staff including subject matter experts on Naval major caliber gun weapon systems.
You will manage the executive plan for the training and development of personnel responsible for integration efforts of engineering change proposal, Ordnance Alteration (ORDALTS), Standard Pier side maintenance and repair (SPMR) efforts.
You will manage the development of kitting processes, Combat System Trials (CSSQTs), Factory acceptance tests, NDE process, new construction and fleet support initiatives including FMS programs.
You will be responsible for leading and mentoring employees, guiding career development of subordinates, and developing employee short- and long-term career objectives.
You will be responsible for providing technical and administrative guidance to direct reports, while holding every direct report accountable to achieve organizational objectives.
You will assess existing process framework within the Major Caliber Gun Systems Branch and lead efforts to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
You will promote cohesiveness amongst your direct reports by taking actions to resolve any issues, while ensuring adherence to chain-of-command within the organization.
