About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Parking at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is limited, the use of commuting alternatives is recommended. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing patient records; taking and recording vital signs, blood pressure, and temperature; staffing exam and procedure room and cleaning room after exams; utilizing a variety of automated systems such as Military Electronic Record Systems, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), and Health Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS) to check patients into clinic and update patient data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred but not required
Conduct patient intake procedures, to include obtaining general medical information.
Take and record patient vital signs, blood pressure, and temperature.
Assist physician in performing procedures and exams.
Act as liaison between patient and primary medical care provider.
Recognize changes in patient's condition and communicates responses and/or changes to nursing personnel or physician.
Utilize medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients.
Stock procedure rooms, ensuring availability of equipment, instruments, and supplies for exams and procedures, and cleaning rooms after exams.
Confirm medical records are prepared and available to include proper entry of patient's data.
Utilize automated systems Military Electronic Record Systems, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and Health Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS) to input patient data.
Performs front desk duties as necessary.
