Job Description:
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Office, Superintendent, House Office Buildings (HOB), Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch and may be assigned to any section within the Branch. The incumbent is a Custodial Worker Leader and sets the pace of work, provides leadership and instructions and performs and checks a cleaning duty in an assigned group of rooms and public areas.

Led a team by monitoring, reviewing and checking on work progress of performing cleaning duties in an assigned group of rooms and public areas.
Tour of duty for this position is: Night 9:30pm to 6:00am. This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations. The night position is subject to receive 10% Night Differential. MAJOR DUTIES: Leads the work of Custodial Workers, WG-04. Receives work assignments and guidelines from Custodial Worker Supervisors. Performs cleaning tasks in an assigned area without instruction. Schedules cleaning tasks within the framework of an assigned schedule which states the frequency of each task. Independently determines the priority of any non-routine work. Work is performed in offices, public corridors, stairways, closets, restrooms, restaurant facilities, machine rooms and storage areas. Cleans and maintains floors, walls and ceilings. Surfaces include bronze, concrete, glass, linoleum, marble, plastic, porcelain, sandstone, stainless steel, tile and wood. Uses an assortment of cleaning solutions to removes marks and stains. Uses specialized solutions to clean statuary and sculptured ornamentation. Prepares areas for cleaning by moving heavy furniture and any other items that are required to be moved. Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, towels, soap, paper towels, as needed. Takes note of any items that are not operating properly and which require repair such as inoperable lights, damaged floors or carpets and inoperable electrical outlets. Notifies leader or supervisor of items needing repair. Collects and sorts recyclable materials. Collects and disposes of wet waste materials and relines wet waste containers. Cleans recycling containers. Follows all relevant safety rules, regulations and standard operating procedures. Utilizes knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all safety practices and equipment are fully utilized. Ensures the use of any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Performs other related duties as assigned.
