Job Description:
You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the Fire Protection Department of MCAS CHERRY POINT.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards and fire protection deficiencies; performing functional tests on fire suppression system and fire alarms; and interpreting and enforcing fire codes, regulations, and directives. You will conduct an information program and secure client involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression.
You will serve as a technical representative between the host command and all tenant commands with regard to fire protection equipment design, testing, and suitability for types of occupancy where installed.
You will inspect a highly diverse range of buildings, equipment, material and procedures involving hazards and potential severity of a high degree and the expectancy of fire is high.
You will coordinate established fire watch programs with designated building, facility, or installation program representatives, and fire marshals.
You will determine measures to reduce or eliminate the potential for fire or explosion.
You will write inspection reports and follow up on any discrepancies to ensure deficiencies are corrected.
You will develop materials, and provide situational and classroom training in installation fire prevention activities and addresses a variety of client groups in fire program methods and goals.
