The District of Columbia Courts, offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in courts administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This internship is for Fall 2025.
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to intern in the U.S and at least 18 years old. THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR STUDENTS ONLY (LAW, UNDERGRADUATE, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS) Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication, time management, critical thinking skills. Preference are students pursing degrees in law, court administration, conflict resolution or other related field. The student must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to track ABA credit hour requirements. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.
Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division has intern opportunities within the L&T Same Day Mediation Program. The positions are an unpaid internship. The intern's major duties for each are below: Assist in preparing for day-of coordination. Assist in reviewing mediation scheduling details, setting up Zoom rooms and assigning mediators to their respective virtual rooms. Assist and attend virtual hearings Pass along meditation information to parties referred to same-day mediation. Check in parties upon arrival, assign them to a mediator once all are present and manage the mediation waitlist. Assist with ongoing support to mediators and parties, addressing questions and concerns.
