Job Description:

You will serve as a Nuclear Engineer/ Health Physicist in the Radiological Control Office of PSNS and IMF. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional Engineer or Health Physicist interpreting and advising on safety requirements to recommend improvements for an industrial radiation health program. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer or Health Physicist investigating compliance with safety requirements to assess an industrial radiation health program. You will perform engineering analysis and applies health physics to procurement of materials and equipment.
You will conduct inspections and surveillances of operations performed by other organizations to determine compliance with requirements.
You will evaluate radiation survey data to determine radiation hazards and compliance with established radiation level requirements.
You will provide consultation to personnel in other departments and offices regarding the Radiological Affairs Support Program.
