Job Description:

Serves as full performance level Field Maintenance Program (FMP) Engineering Technician assigned to facility improvement projects such as Engine Generator (E/G) and Power Conditioning Systems (PCS) installs.
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (FV-G, FG/GS-11). Specialized experience examples include experience planning, executing and overseeing construction projects or performance maintenance and/or repair of existing structures utilizing accepted trade methods and techniques. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering and/or construction principles, concepts, practices, techniques, methods, and precedents. Incumbent applies broad experience and advanced technical knowledge on multiple, varying and complex assignments in support of the National Airspace System (NAS). Plans, coordinates and performs work with a high degree of independence, keeping manager advised of significant problem areas. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integral system to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated issues. Independently evaluates the functional status of systems and facilities. Reviews electrical schematics, installation designs and specifications, determines construction methods, manages project logistics, ensures compliance with safety procedures, and prepares risk mitigation plans. Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) overseeing work activities to ensure contract requirements are met. May be required to coordinate between the Project Engineer and the Contracting Officer or other stakeholders. Participates in Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAIs) and Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAIs). Incumbent maintains technical competency on legacy systems as well as installs and integrates new systems. Uses appropriate technical documentation such as FAA Orders for guidance. Exercise practical judgment and discretion in accomplishing work assignments in a safe manner. Possesses broad knowledge of FAA policies and procedures pertaining to the work environment such as (OSHA) Occupational Safety Health Administration. Works with a high degree of independence, keeping the manager advised of significant problem areas. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system in order to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated issues. Coordinates activities with stakeholders, provides project status updates, coordinates with State and Federal agencies, airport management, contractors, and utility companies. Provides training, mentoring and guidance to other FAA employees. Duty assignments require incumbent to operate for construction tasks, and make operational adjustments for compliance to a variety of instruments and construction equipment including but not limited to: wheeled loaders, trac-hoes, grad-alls, and treacher. A CDL is required in order to operate the construction equipment.
