Job Description:

You will serve as an INSULATOR in the Production Department of PSNS and IMF.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. You will plan and lay out work, develop patterns, cut, form, join, assemble, evaluate quality, and install all types of insulating materials.
You will estimate and select the types and amounts of insulation required considering the computations, size, shape, temperature, accessibility, environment, and physical appearance of the item or system.
You will prepare removable or replaceable sections of insulation for valves, flanges, tank tops, and other similar fittings to which access must be provided.
You will construct insulation boxes to cover groups of piping elements and enclose fittings, flanges, or valves.
You will use a variety of blueprints, drawings, and other specifications to construct the insulating forms into desired shapes, allowing for seams, joints, thickness, and shrinkage.
