Job Description:

This is an open continuous announcement (OCA) for the Pine Ridge Nursing Departments. The presence of a department does not necessarily indicate a current vacancy. A qualification review will be conducted, and qualified candidates will be referred to the departments as positions become vacant and are approved. Position serves as a support member of the nursing team and provides support in accomplishing nursing care within any nursing unit requiring assistance.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR Education and Training For GS-3: Successful completion of l year of study that included study in medical, health, or related fields. For GS-4: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience & 6 months of specialized experience for the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Specialized Experience GS-4: Examples include: take and record vital signs, schedule appointments, maintain security and confidentiality of data and information. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Specialized Experience GS-5: Examples include: Administering screening assessments for preventative health (intimate partner violence, frequency of alcohol and other drug use, depression assessment, tobacco use history), distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings of vital signs and point of care testing, and administering intervention as prescribed by the provider, typical of medical assistant or health education positions. Specialized Experience GS-6: Examples include: Venipuncture, collecting and labeling lab specimens, performing basic wound/skin care measures, ordering and fitting durable medical supplies to patient need, typical of experienced medical assistant or health education positions. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Provides patient care within scope of practice, observes patients that are at risk to cause self-harm and performs transfer, lifting or ambulating of patients using proper body mechanics and lifting methods. Stocks supplies in exam rooms, performs as a receptionist, maintains various unit logs and patient census and other related clerical duties associated with patient care and treatment Safely operates specialized equipment and floats to all inpatient and outpatient units as assigned and work on a rotational basis to provide continuity of patient care during days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to clinic and departmental safety regulations, maintains security and confidentiality of data and information and assists in emergency situations
