ORGANIZATION LOCATION: Phoenix Service Unit, Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Division of Nursing. Position is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and supervised through the Supervisory Nurse. The incumbent is the primary point of contact for patients and visitors, works with clinical and non-clinical staff, and performs support work in connection with the care and treatment given to patients. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Receiving and greeting visitors and telephone callers; knowledge of an electronic appointment system to schedule appointments; gather information from customers to perform data entry into a database; assist customers in completing forms and answering general questions; review documents for accuracy; initiate requests based on the information received; and performing record keeping duties; OR Education: Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, or university. Transcripts must be submitted; OR Combination of education and specialized experience: Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify. Transcripts must be submitted MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Interviews patients and determines the nature of the call or visit to schedule appointments or initiate appropriate patient paperwork; enter, retrieve, and extract data from a computerized data system to schedule, change, and/or cancel patient appointments; coordinate patient care based on medical provider referral for purchased referred care services; transfers provider's orders to appropriate departments, review documents for accuracy, explain processes, test preparations and/or policies to patients; coordinates transportation for patients, review, correct and initiate admission forms as needed for appointments; navigate through difficult patient scheduling situations with excellent communication and customer service skills; and perform a variety of receptionist, clerical and time-keeping duties. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Coordinates clinic activities and communication relevant to patient care such as, receives visitors, direct calls, route correspondences, transfers orders for patient, arranges appointments for patients, coordinates transportation, take inventory of clinic supplies. Functions as the timekeeper for the clinic such as, generating timecards for staff, adding records for new employees, preparing amended records for annual and sick leave, and instructing or training on policies and procedures and civilian pay and leave. Perform general clerical duties, such as, assist patients with new or updating admitting forms, entering information and verifying health record into the RPMS Patient Registration System, securing patient records and properly maintaining records, using a wide variety of medical, technical and specialized term.
